St. Luke's Faith Formation Information & Registration
Congratulations to the young people who have received their Confirmation in June. We are also so excited for those who have celebrated their First Communion Mass this month, and for those who will celebrate it in July. St. Luke's is praying for you all!
Thank you, St. Luke's!
Below is a letter from Sue and Joe Black who coordinate the program for St. Luke's:
St. Luke parishioners’ response to the June Mustard Seed was overwhelming once again! Close to 50 people provided over 450 sandwiches of which Mustard Seed accepted 150 and St. John’s of Worcester accepted the remainder.
Paula Bushey from Mustard Seed told us that their numbers are down a bit recently
for several reasons, including concerns about the virus.
But, they are still feeding a large number of people. And, Paula was extremely grateful for the response and donations.
As we did in May, we brought the remaining sandwiches to St. John’s in Worcester, which distributes food to the needy. St. John’s is the oldest established Catholic religious institution in the city, and the oldest Catholic parish in New England outside of Boston. One of their prime ministries is feeding the needy at the St. Francis Xavier Center located on St. John’s premises which is managed by Billy Riley. The following quote is from the church’s website.
“The 20 programs of St. John’s Food for the Poor Program assist low income families, seniors, the homeless, and other needy people. We feature a not-so-typical soup kitchen in the St. Francis Xavier Center that serves from 450 to 700 hot nutritious meals a day, five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year including holidays, and regardless of rain or snow, from 7:00 to 11:00 AM. The food pantry provides over 4,800 to-go meals each year in addition to small food boxes as part of our mobile outreach.”
St. John’s pastor, Fr. John Madden, was extremely grateful for the donations from St. Luke’s.
Take care, stay safe and God bless,
Joe & Susan

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
