The Mustard Seed is an organization that helps provide dinners to the hungry and homeless. St. Luke's Church helps to provide meals one Friday a month, organized by Sue and Joe Black. For May 1st, we were asked to provide 125 bagged lunches rather than hot meals because of the stay-at-home policies.
The response from St. Luke's families was overwhelming! Due to the generous support from our parish, we not only dropped off 150 lunches at the Mustard Seed, but we were able to bring another 110 lunches to St. John’s in Worcester.
Pat & Kenny Gagnon helped stuffed bags and organize donations. Pat baked 300 cookies! We are so grateful to all who helped. Thank you!!
St. Luke's next Mustard Seed date will be Friday, June 5th. More info and sign-up details to come.
Connecting with St. Luke's Youth
Recently we asked some teens to share how they were doing during this time of change and social-distancing.
Reflecting on their “Rose, Thorn, and Bud;” Meabh, Hannah, Erika, Emily, Sam, Ava, and Jackson, with Gloria Josephs, Director of Youth Ministry, recorded their thoughts to make the following video.

The Rose represents something that provides happiness or is good in their life. The Thorn represents a challenge, a difficulty, or a disappointment. The Bud represents a new opportunity to nurture, a thing emerging, or something to look forward to.

What is St. Luke's Art Project? We want to share our optimism and blessings with the community. Watch the gardens grow as we plant flowers and create a living display of love and hope.
Our parish secretary, artist Pam Vaccari, invited children in our parish to create big colorful flowers. She then cut out and laminated their artwork, which was all used to create this vibrant banner.
The project continues through the end of May. If your child would like to contribute, draw a large colorful flower on 8.5 x 11 paper (so it shows up on the banner.) Saint Luke's Organic Garden (SLOG)
Did you know that St. Luke's runs a community garden?
The parish community garden is located on Route 135 in the small fenced-in area behind St. Luke's Cemetery. SLOG exists in response to Renewing the Earth, a Pastoral Statement of the United States Catholic Conference issued November 14, 1991. More recently, Pope Francis exhorts the world to focus on environmental protection in his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si: Caring for Our Common Home.
Through our church community we offer individuals and families the opportunity to grow healthy food while helping
- to restore the purity of air and water,
- to halt the loss of farmland,
- to sustain ecological diversity in plant and animal life.
All gardeners at SLOG agree to use organic products and practices to grow their gardens.
We are a community diverse in age and cultures, and welcome new members. Gardeners pay a yearly fee of $25 for a 20' x 15' patch and garden May through November.

St. Luke's Parish has helped to support Fr. Rick Frechette and the children of St. Damien's Pediatric Hospital for many years. "The Land of High Mountains" is a powerful account of the incredible people working together to heal the children of the island and to realize the dreams of a nation.
This beautiful film allows us to experience the life saving work done at St Damien’s Pediatric Hospital. The film is authentic, truly Haitian, with original Haitian music. It portrays the resiliency of the poor, their incredible faith, and hope for a better future.

Even though we are apart, we are drawn together by our faith. Have you created a special place at home where you gather to watch Mass, or set a table with candles and a bible where you go to pray?
