The Call to Become Saints
Holiness is not about being perfect; it is about allowing God to transform our lives with his love. Sometimes we imagine that saints are people who lived extraordinary lives, far removed from our everyday struggles. But the Feast of All Saints reminds us that holiness is possible for everyone, right where we are.
The saints were ordinary people who allowed God to do extraordinary things through them. They experienced weakness, faced temptations, made mistakes, and endured suffering. What made them holy was not that they never struggled, but that they continued to trust in God and allow his grace to work in their lives.
In the Gospel of the Beatitudes we hear this Sunday, Jesus shows us the path to holiness: being poor in spirit, showing mercy, working for peace, seeking justice, and remaining faithful even in difficult times. Holiness is not simply about praying more or following religious rules; it is about becoming more like Jesus in the way we love, forgive, serve, and treat one another.
We become holy when we allow the heart of Christ to shape our own hearts. We become holy when we love our families patiently, forgive those who hurt us, care for the poor, defend the vulnerable, and bring hope to those who are suffering.
Today, the saints remind us that holiness is not reserved for a few extraordinary people. It is the universal call of every Christian. God is not asking us to become someone else; he is inviting us to become the person he created us to be.
Perhaps the most important question we can ask ourselves today is not, “Will I ever become a saint?” but rather, “Am I allowing God to make me holy today?”
Because sainthood begins here and now, in the ordinary moments of our lives, when we choose love over selfishness, mercy over judgment, and faith over fear.
May we never be afraid of holiness, because holiness is simply allowing God to love us so deeply that his love begins to shine through us.

Getting to Know the Person of Jesus

Please join us as we explore ways we can come to know the person of Jesus by imaginatively contemplating key gospel passages. Using techniques from Ignatian Spirituality, and listening to insightful reflections from the gospels, participants will draw closer to Jesus and experience his love through active involvement in prayer, music, discussion, and contemplation.
This promises to be an informative and engaging time of spiritual enrichment and grace, and we hope you can attend.

St. Luke’s Thanksgiving Program for 2026
It has been a long-standing tradition at St. Luke’s to provide assistance to those in need at Thanksgiving. In the past, we have provided two bags of groceries as well as a grocery card. Typically, we provide for about 135 families, which means that just the grocery cards alone cost over $6,000.
More and more families in our community continue to face financial insecurity. It is our hope that we can ease their burden a bit this Thanksgiving. This year we are collecting essential care items (that are not covered by SNAP,) as well as $50 grocery cards, to better meet the needs of our families.
- Donate a $50 grocery card. (The ones most asked for are for Walmart, Stop & Shop, and Market Basket.)
- Drop off gift cards at St. Luke's Parish Center. (See Office Hours Here)
- Please do not mail gift cards.
- Make a donation in any amount to help defray the cost of the grocery cards, either by check or online by visiting St. Luke's WeShare:

Cooks Needed!
St. Luke’s serves dinner at the Mustard Seed on Fridays every other month. We need volunteers to provide a batch of chicken, riced pilaf, cooked vegetables, soft fruit, and finger desserts we will bring to Mustard Seed.
All food should be delivered hot to St. Luke's Parish Center parking lot between 3:30 and 4:00 on Friday, November 6th. (Look for Sean and his red CRV.)

Would You Spend Some Time with JESUS?
Tuesday is our special day for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the true presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
Through this special and ancient practice, the Lord bestows His blessings and graces abundantly, allowing the person to know and better understand the mystery of His love.

Every hour, a group of adorers is seated in prayer and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, interceding for the needs of our parish and community. Unfortunately, the number of adorers is running low. Would you consider spending more time in contemplation, silence, meditation, and prayer? It could be for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, or more!

ASP’s Annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale
The ASP Youth Team will be taking orders for pies after church on the weekends of November 7/8 and November 14/15.
Our delicious apple crisps and pumpkin pies, hand-made with love by our volunteers, will be available for $15 each. Pumpkin pies are cooked. Apple crisps will be uncooked, ready for baking or freezing.
Pies must be picked at the FUMC atrium on November 21st from 2:00-4:30pm, so you will have them in time for your Thanksgiving dinner.

Adopt a Confirmation Student
We are continuing our “Pray It Forward – Adopt a Confirmation Student” program this year after its wonderful success last year!
At the end of Mass this weekend, please consider choosing the name of one of our Confirmation candidates. By doing so, you commit to praying for that student throughout their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
If you are homebound and would like to participate, please email Denise Pelkey at dpelkey@stlukes-parish.org, and she will provide you with a student’s name.

Place Flags on Westborough Town Rotary for Veterans Day
November 7th and 14th
The Westborough Veterans Advisory Board (WVAB) seeks your help again. In honor of Veterans Day we will place US flags on the town rotary. We will plant the flags on Saturday morning, November 7th, 2026 at 9am, and then retrieve them one week later on Saturday, November 14th, 2026 at 9am. In the past, we've been blessed with a good number of volunteers and thus normally done in about 30 minutes.
Any help that you and your families can offer is much appreciated. Together it makes for a quick, easy and rewarding community-building event and morning.

Holiness is for Everyone
God calls each and every single one of us to be holy.
Here are a few simple steps you and your family can take to grow in holiness this month.
Little Steps to Sanctity
It can seem daunting to hear words like 'holiness' and 'sanctity'. We might be tempted to think these concepts only apply to Bishops, Priests, and Nuns. But God calls each of us to a life of holiness. We are all invited to follow Him.
It can still seem scary (and at times maybe even impossible) to become a saint. It's good to remember that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future. We all have to start somewhere on our path toward holiness.
How do you become holy? One step at a time. Jesus calls us to follow Him, but it's a marathon, not a sprint. Each and every day is a new opportunity to say "Yes" to God. To choose His will instead of ours. To take another step in following Him. As a family, you have the opportunity to take these steps together.
Little steps to sanctity:
- Get up a few minutes early to invite Jesus into your day.
- Create your own prayer to say as a family each week.
- Sacrifice one small pleasure every day, and offer it up to God.
- Take a moment each day to thank God for all the gifts He has blessed you with.
- End your day by saying sorry for those times that you stumbled and struggled.
