Westborough Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a youth mission team sponsored by St. Luke's and First United Methodist churches in Westborough. We travel to Central Appalachia every summer in order to provide much-needed home repair for families suffering in conditions of poverty.
Youth in grades 9 and above, plus their families and interested adults, are welcome to come learn more and ask questions about this dynamic and life-changing ministry that gives hope to communities in need. We welcome parents and caring adults to volunteer to help lead the youth during the year and during the project week. No construction experience is required, though it's definitely helpful! We will train our volunteers for the work and raise money for the trip throughout the school year.

OCIA Inquiry Sessions start Tue, Sept. 15, then continue weekly Tuesdays at 7:30 PM in Room 23, Parish Center. If you are not already a member of the Catholic faith community (or perhaps no Christian faith community), this is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Christian faith in the Catholic tradition.
All are welcome to attend without any obligation or pressure to “become Catholic.” For those who choose, OCIA can provide a path to one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist.)

The theme of our last gathering was "Pizza and Happiness." A Harvard professor joined us to talk about the science of happiness and faith.
The mission of the Martha's & Mary's Ministry is to provide compassionate care and support to parish families who are grieving the loss of a loved one. One way we serve is by hosting a luncheon following Funeral Masses, offering family and friends an opportunity to gather together in a warm and welcoming environment.
Our ministry is led by a dedicated team of parishioners, and we are seeking additional volunteers to join us. Whether your gifts include baking, serving, hospitality, setup, cleanup, or helping coordinate luncheon arrangements, we would be grateful for your support.
Beyond serving others, members often find lasting friendships and a spirit of compassion, unity, and quiet joy within our parish community.

Sex Ed Program in Massachusetts Public Schools
The Massachusetts Public Schools will again be using the Rights, Respect, Responsibility K–12 sex education curriculum which was adopted in the Spring of 2021. Bishop McManus encourages parents to review the curriculum that can be explicit, age inappropriate, and without moral grounding. It will be taught in all grades beginning with kindergarten, again this fall. Under Massachusetts law, parents have the right to opt their children out of sex ed. programs but, they must opt out again each year. Forms are available at local Worcester parishes, including St. Luke’s.
